Giving the North East’s digital guardians a striking online presence

Based in Gateshead, Net-Defence offers practical and cost-effective IT support, telephony, and cyber security services nationwide. Focused on keeping businesses secure and streamlined, they support organisations of all sizes, proving you don’t need to be a tech giant to get top-notch protection.

The challenge: a website stuck in the dial-up era

Net-Defence came to TVG with a brand that felt a bit behind the times, though their trusty logo would need to remain. Their existing website, while functional, wasn’t fully realising its potential to showcase their expertise and connect with prospective clients. They needed to stand out from the crowd of competitors who sometimes lean a little too heavily on the doom and gloom.

So, what exactly did we do?

First things first, we gave the Net-Defence brand a refreshing makeover and crafted a website that truly reflected their team’s capabilities. But we didn’t stop there. We then rolled out a complete marketing strategy designed to educate, not intimidate, making sure Net-Defence spoke to their audience in a way that felt genuine and approachable.

I was nervous about outsourcing our marketing and website development and delivery, concerned it would be disjointed and the cost could spiral. I worried needlessly! I chose TVG because they are local, family-owned, have breadth and depth of expertise and specialist skills, and they become an extension of their customers to provide seamless service.

Building a partnership for the long haul

Net-Defence had big ambitions to grow their brand and reputation across the North East and Scotland. They weren’t just looking for a quick fix; they wanted a trusted, long-term partner who could support them across the board, from web and marketing to networking and print.

Enter TVG, stage left, ready to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in. We sat down with the senior team at Net-Defence, armed with copious amounts of coffee and even more ideas. Here’s how we managed to transform Net-Defence’s brand and create a strong foundation for future growth.

Brand refresh: a splash of colour and a tidy-up

We injected some personality into the Net-Defence brand with a clever colour system: a strong red for cyber security, a dependable purple for IT support, and a clear blue for their telephony services. This created a much-needed visual distinction between their core offerings.

We also tidied up the existing logo to feel more modern and impactful. For brand consistency, we created a set of slick new brand guidelines to serve as the rulebook for keeping everything looking sharp across the board.

Website design and development: less is more

The old website was a bit of a maze, so our web team streamlined the design, using those three core colours to clearly signpost each service. We incorporated abstract imagery that hinted at movement and security, keeping things visually interesting without being overly “techy”.

By reorganising the site into those three core service areas, we made it easy for visitors to quickly understand what Net-Defence offers, while still providing in-depth information for those who wanted to delve deeper. Plus, we revamped their insights section into a well-organised hub of educational content, proving they’re all about sharing knowledge, not just selling solutions.

Marketing: speaking human, not robot

The ultimate goal was lead generation, but done right. From day one, we worked closely with Net-Defence to craft a marketing strategy that felt authentic. This included targeted email marketing, engaging social media management, SEO-friendly blog writing, and website updates.

Our very own Marketing Manager, Chloe, and the fantastic content team immersed themselves in the world of Net-Defence, getting to know the team and truly understanding their services while working with Debra to nail that friendly and approachable tone of voice.

Over time, our strategy evolved to focus more intently on SEO. This involved developing educational hubs aimed at key sectors like legal and financial. We also implemented technical SEO management, making sure all pages were optimally structured and consistently monitored for peak performance.

Print: the power of tangible marketing

For Net-Defence, print and digital marketing go hand in hand. To bolster their overall strategy, our print team initially provided essential materials like flyers, business cards, and banner stands for events. This quickly evolved into a significant part of their marketing efforts, with regular requests for networking and event collateral.

We even bridged the gap between print and web by creating a digital brochure accessible through the website’s backend. This allowed their Business Development Managers to create bespoke brochures for potential clients. Clever stuff, if we do say so ourselves!

Levelling up our support for Net-Defence

We’re absolutely thrilled that our relationship with Net-Defence, which started on such a solid footing, continues to flourish.

Since kicking off their marketing journey in late 2023, we’ve significantly expanded our support to include everything from targeted email campaigns and impactful print materials to the continuous growth and optimisation of their website.

It’s a testament to the collaborative spirit and the mutual understanding we’ve cultivated. We’re excited to see what the future holds for Net-Defence and proud to be a part of their ongoing success story.

TVG has exceeded my expectations from day one. The quality of service and value they are adding is priceless, but I'm delighted to say everything has been delivered on time, on budget, and right the first time. TVG has become an extension of ND and this is a partnership that I will ensure continues for years to come.
